Rowan and her friends have been playing Lost Ages MMO for years. Upon completing the final quest in the game and defeating Morpheus the Imposter, the group finds itself transported to the real world of Lost Ages, south of the world tree Yggdrasil. Rowan and her friends are tasked with finding stolen Edda texts that were written by ancient skalds. In the first part of this series, The Awakening, Rowan finds herself in a surreal situation with an odd elf king, a servant of Freyja, a drunken gnome, and, finally, her lover from Scotland, who is now not himself. The Lost Ages has three short stories so far, including Part II, The World Tree and Part III, The Song of Man, which rediscover  old world myths and magical natural environments as Rowan and her friends collect stolen and lost literature from around the world and piece it back together for the sake of preserving truth and finding the mysterious path to utopia.

In Part II, the crew faces Vafþrúðnir and must defeat him in a riddle joust, reminiscent of the frost giant’s legendary game of wit with Odin; if the giant is defeated, access to stolen Edda poetry will be granted. Rowan and her friends also discover the world tree Yggdrasil and spend a night beneath its eternal canopy.

In Part III, after spending the night beneath the world tree Yggdrasil, the crew ends up in Ethiopia, and the perspective shifts to Sheba, who must face King Solomon to find another lost text. King Olafr takes on the form of a Bedouin and guides the gang to a secret cave, where they must figure out how to defeat a gang of bandits twice their group’s size. From there, they wearily trek east to the ancient temple of Solomon, where Sheba faces her fear of a man’s desire and finds a poem that restores her lost faith. This is the last part of the Lost Ages series, which rediscovers old world myths and magical natural environments as Rowan and her friends collect stolen and lost literature from all over the world and piece it back together for the sake of preserving truth and finding the mysterious path to utopia. With renewed interest, more parts of this series might come in the future.
